Cask. Almost clear. Light amber. Narrow frothy head.
Floral and earthy hops on the nose. Light caramel present.
More malt upon tasting with a hoppy bitter finish. Nicely balanced.
Quite dry. Soft carbonation.
An easy drinking EPA

Appearance: pours a golden honey color with a fluffy white head which leaves copious amounts of lacing in rings after each sip.

Smell: floral and grainy, grainy/grassy combination slightly reminiscent of a continental pilsener, but a bit of ale fruitiness seeps through.

Taste: solidly bitter for the style, hops are more spicy/herbal than anything else. aftertaste lingers. malt profile is simple and leaves something to be desired.

Mouthfeel: served at cask temperature, but probably would have benefited from more chilling. somewhat creamy texture, light-medium body.

Drinkability: fairly average for the style

BB 28/06/08, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: pours a perfect light amber hue with a off-white pillowy and rocky head with good retention; carbonation remains constant and light.
S: light hop resins and an overwhelming wave of lemon-floral and slightly stinky dried-grassy note of English hops fill the nostrils, backed by a whiff of salty-sweetness of yeasts and dense pale malts; also in the mixture is a touch of feather-light wheatiness. Very clear in composition, and featuring abundant hops in the brew. BTW, the overall aroma reminds me of Hopback's Summer Lightning a lot.
T: sharply bitter, semi-spicy, earthy/grassy hops (Challenger+Fuggles?) upfront are underlined by a deep layer of aromatic pale malts... turning dryish in the end, where malt-sweetness, hop-zestiness and bitterness merge beautifully to result in a long and harmonious aftertaste. IMO, the depth and length of bitterness are ideal by the standard of an English Blond Bitter.
M&D: medium-bodied and pretty refreshing in texture, while the fizziness comes a bit higher than ideal. This is a pleasant, strongly hoppy ale, full of hoppiness and a great depth of bitterness to enjoy. Not as good as its draught version, but not far off, either.
