Tasted by a pint at my local JDW pub in East End London. This beer is a seasonal offering from the Elgood's, actually a X'mas ale according to the brewery's website.
A: pours a slightly hazy amber hue, with a long-lasting off-white beer head leaving very tight lacing behind; low carbonation.
S: flowery hops with strong hints of Challenger and even Cascade(?), hand in hand with pear-drops, peach-syrup, and lychees... perhaps my imagination goes too wild, but the nose is truly fruity and nice; the hoppy overtone lies on a bed of chewy, fruit-candyish note. Overall, quietly aromatic and fruity the nose is--very pleasant.
T: bitter-toffeeish malts comes with an intense flow of tea-like and herbal hoppyness, with lots of zesty, bitter edge of citrussy fruits to follow; tangy, tannic and more fruity-bitterness lingers well towards the finish.
M&D: very smooth on the mouthfeel, superbly-balanced flavour backed by the ever so enjoyable lingering bitterness... this is a utterly-quaffable and delicious premium bitter. Like a strong pale ale+ESB as far as the definitions of the BA site are concerned--or maybe an English Strong Ale? Whatever it's meant to be, this is a remarkable beer.
