A 500ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2018. Acquired a little while back from ALDI. Described on the label as a classic ale brewed with four English hop varieties.

A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deep amber hue with good clarity and plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a couple of minutes before reducing to a persistent surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of caramel malt with hints of light grain, grass/hay, subtle herbal notes, leafy hops, ale yeast and faint husks. Decent and traditional in character.

T: Tastes of floral hops with notes of grass/hay, mild spice, leafiness, grainy malt, subtle caramel and ale yeast. A restrained, hoppy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Perhaps a tad too lively. Aftertaste of bitter leafy hops, grass/hay, caramel malt and ale yeast.

O: Rather nice - balanced and properly matured. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour showcase a satisfyingly British hop character underpinned by caramel malt and ale yeast. Body is alright; slightly overcarbonated. Not as hoppy as many modern IPAs and probably won't satisfy hop lovers, but this is a well-judged brew and very drinkable. Worth sampling.
