I've listed this new find as a Belgian Blonde. I appreciate it's English and even styled English Blonde but I have never heard of an English Blonde style of beer before.
L- Quite rich amber, clear, some rising CO2 in a partial lid of bubbles. [I appreciate the 8.7% ABV causes a surface-tension that leads to great difficulty maintaining a cap/head so won't let the lack thereof be held against it].
S- Quite rich, a touch of toffee and perhaps a hint of baked apple.
T- ...follows the smell^. The ABV% is 'visible' to the palate but quite smooth and non-aggressive. It has a hoppy brightness to it too, thankfully the richness needs it to balance.
F- It's rich, quite pungent but the bright hops partially balance. Would work well as a slow-sipping post-dinner beer at Xmas.
O- It's certainly big and bold. I'm unsure that it's much like the Belgian Blonde style. In contrast this beer is full bodied, rich, high malt, with no spice or fruity esters that I can ID. Maybe it's close to an English Strong Ale? About mid-way between a Fuller's Golden Pride Barleywine and their 1845 English Strong Ale. Probably a bit more full-on that I needed on a fresh palate on a stinking hot day.
330ml bottle. Bought from BeersOfEurope 330ml bottle £3.29 BB: Feb-2027. Only now I see on the BeersOfEurope this listed their as an English Strong Ale - aha!
