L- A lovely deep chestnut-red, clear, with a 2-3mm cream coloured foam cap. The latter is impressive considering the ABV%
S- Just a sense of richness.
T- Woah! Rich, then ABV, deep/rich roasty malts, a touch of quite strong bitter/sour then finally a hoppy-dry aspect into the finish. That repeats on the next several mouthfuls. The start->end of the taste evolution seems to be between 5-10 seconds each time.
F- I'm glad I started this off chilled as it's too heavy to rush, plus it's getting richer quite swiftly as it warms a touch. It's a slow-sipping beer for me, much too heavy to rush.
O- The ABV% wears it's heart on it's sleeve, subtle it's not. But it fits within the context of the overall big-beast ale. Probably more suited to winter than a warm September day. Would I drink it again? Yes, though in small amounts, it might be a good choice for sharing.
Bought from BeersOfEurope for home delivery 330ml bottle. BBE: Feb-2027
p.s. If this is a Wee Heavy I cannot imagine what a Big Heavy is like.
