this is one of the better colorado made examples of this style, one thats way too uncommon in my opinion. this one is fuller bodied than so many, and has a lot of porter elements to it. a big roasty malt profile, maybe even a touch of rye or something in this, there is a textured spicy thing going on, maybe a yeast thing too, its tough to say, but it makes the beer unique. almost ashy and bitter for a second on the specialty dark grain. fluffy off white head on it holds up well, and its so smooth and easy drinking. i go back and forth on these guys, sometimes its awesome and distinct, sometimes its a total miss. this is probably my favorite beer i have had from them, and it was nice to drink one of these right where its made. if you havent been to black bottle, its an awesome spot, definitely worth the trip. this is a top example of the style, one of my favorites they make. definitely bigger and more boldly flavored than others, which works with fall coming on.

From growler. Pours dark brown with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is nice chocolate roast.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malt with a bitter roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nicely done schwarzbier.
