Jasper and Jeroen of Kompaan Craft Brewers and Colin and Brian of Brown Paper Bag Project met on an unusually warm weekend in Berlin after a not so unusual excess of good beer. Months later, after much deliberation and planning, they met again in England to brew this Black Coffee IPA.Brewed with 3 different malts, 5 different hops, and the finest Kenya Kiri Peaberry coffee, selected and roasted by Irish Barista Champion, Colin Harmon of 3FE. It is a beer to remember the good times, to celebrate new friendships, and to be enjoyed in the same spirit.

Semi-opaque dark pour with a velvety tan-coloured head. Smells of coffee and roasted malts, and of piney hops. There's a lot of coffee present in the taste, combined with a fresh hop bitterness (citrus and pine) and dark chocolate. I am a sucker for both black IPAs, as well as coffee, so I quite enjoyed this.
