S: Diacetyl. Rum. Roasted malts. Dark chocolate. French vanilla. Toasted wood.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
T: Green apples. French vanilla. Medium-roast Americano. Caramel. Speyside whisky. Slight chocolate. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
M: Creamy-ish mouthfeel. Medium-bodied. Light carbonation. Dry, diacetyl-infused finish. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
O: Had it not been for the fermentation mishap this brew would have probably ranked just below De Molen in terms of barrel-aged Dutch craft beer. The creamy mouthfeel from the regular Bloedbroeder is somewhat preserved along with all of its malty yet light-ish sessionable flavor. I was told that a separate batch of Bloedbroeder was brewed just for the barrel-aged batch and that turned out to be an unfortunate accident; which is a shame because the rum does reveal itself pretty well in the aroma, whereas the palate is almost predominantly Speyside.
