The beer comes in a hazy light gold.

The aroma is straight spruce tips, and some honey and rich white breadiness.

Despite being 6 months old, the beer still shined through with lemony hops, some honey breadiness, but the beer is dominated by Christmas trees and spruce tips. The intensity may be offsetting for some, but it works in the beer quite well.

Hard to knock (and rate) a beer for delivering on its name. At least initially, it hits you in the face with Spruce smell and taste. Look is slightly hazy yellow with white foam/lacing. Feel is refreshing, well carbonated an light bodied. Overall, it's not for me as the Spruce flavor is too much.

Pours a pale golden color much in the same vein as some of the highly popular session IPAs. I sense lemon, the eponymous spruce, and hints of ginger. Biscuit malt. Citrus flavor and perfumy with vegetal undertones; spruciness often overpowers other characteristics. Tart, drying, satisfying. The spruce tips sneakily slip in reminitions of the woodsy, sappy maple syrup beer VT is known for, but one refreshingly crafted with summer in mind. Good APA, excellent seasonal APA.

From the 650 ml. bottle dated June 16, 2015. Sampled on July 19, 2015, so it is just over a month old.

The color of the pour is yellow with a tremendous, white foamy head. Good clarity.

The spruce is abundant on the nose but there is also a notable tangerine, orange, and nectarine like fruitiness to talk about.

Light and refreshing body.

Same juicy, tropical fruit characters in the taste with a moderate bitterness that sneaks up from behind to finish it off.

gosh I love spruce beer, and often wish for more spruce most of the time, but not here, man this is about as potent as any spruce beer ive ever had, it tastes like Christmas trees in my mouth. its almost too much, but they were smart to not try to make it an ipa, the hop oils and bitterness would definitely make the spruce top intense, so its nice without that. a very light base beer too, I always see spruce in porters and the like, but its way more vibrant in this blonde to pale ale type base. I really cant smell or taste anything other than the spruce, not a lot of nuance to comment on here, but still I really enjoy the spruce I do taste, its uncommon in beer, and for it to be this bold is almost entirely new to me. plenty bitter in the finish, it doesn't need hops at all. not quite as light in feel as I thought it would be, given the low abv and all, it still feels pretty flush in body. a lot better cold than room temperature. pine tree burps all night, id buy this again!
