This was a really interesting beer, but the barrel has really transformed the base Rye Bock to the point of unrecognition. Dark brown color with a thin head of tan foam. Oaky sweet woody barrel aroma, some burnt caramel and dark fruit acidity as well. Taste is tart and moderately acidic, body is medium. After the first jarring sip, I got to like it more and appreciated it for what it was, almost an Oud Bruin with the tart acid and barrel character. Overall an interesting experiment, but I hope the barrel is more neutral next time.
