On tap at The Brass Tap, Cedar Falls, IA; served in a snifter. Motor oil-like appearance, with a tan head. I took my time with this to allow it to warm a bit. Big aromas of coconut and chocolate up front that are muted a bit on the palate. A little boozy, with some nice whiskey barrel character, dark roasted malt, and char. Silky mouthfeel, surprisingly low sweetness, and a hint of tannic astringence on the finish. Standout beer from a fine Iowa brewery.

Black body with brown edging and billowing head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, chocolate, coconut, and vanilla. Taste is much the asme but has a whisper of licorice and cinnamon near the finish, vanilla is strong here. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, warm, and has a clean finish for the style. Nice all around ba stout
