This barleywine was barrel-aged for 18 months in French oak with Brettanomyces Bruxellensis and Brettanomyces Lambicus. Only 4 barrels were produced and each barrel has been bottled as its own series and numbered by hand with each barrel slightly different than the next. A pleasant and distinct funky aroma leads into flavours of dried dark stone fruits and umami overtones, complemented with a dry, sherry-like finish.

Powell St Brewery '4th Anniversary Ale' @ 10.4% , served from a waxed 750 ml bottle purchased for $20
A-pour is cola brown from the hard to open waxed/bottle to a dirty brown in the glass with a small tan head leaving a fine spotty lace along the snifter
S-brett barley wine
T-start is a bit funky , some smoothness , big tasting , hints of stone fruit , dry sherry swallow/finish
MF-decent carbonation , big full body
Ov-lots of Brettanomyces , Bruxellensis , Brettanomyces Lambicus , in this barley wine

Ivory film with ruby-chocolate black. 4
Barnyard, ash, cherry stone, and wood. 4.25
Licorice and char, toffee and cherry, Bretty lemon peel, slight pineapple, and a surprising orange-cocoa finish. 4.25
Medium, chewy, slight leaf. 4

Quad more than barleywine, though citrus comes out as it warms. Brett fully developed, and the oak is subtle. A powerful sipper. 4.25
