This dark ale is light, refreshing, and sessionable. Flavours of caramel, toffee, chocolate and nuts are complimented with Golding hops that add just the right amount of bitterness and a slight floral aroma. Paying homage to the East Van Crow.

Dark black with a modest tan head and cap. Light chocolate coffee nose. Light-medium body, thinnish feel per style. Dry finish.

On tap at the Biercraft in Vancouver.
Pours with a very dark brown body and a durable off-white head.
The aroma is dark roasted grains with hints of coffee and smoke.
The flavor is very good, with a generous grain load and no sour of flavors. Moderate bitterness for style.

650ml bottle - I gotta say, I kind of like the label here.

This beer pours a clear, dark brown cola colour, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and bubbly tan head, which leaves a bit of low-lying streaky and sudsy lace around the glass as it steadily recedes.

It smells of lightly roasted caramel malt, a touch of biscuity toffee, bittersweet chocolate, some oily nuttiness, faint cafe-au-lait notes, and a tame earthy, leafy, and woodsy hop bitterness. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, fading saltwater taffy, gritty cocoa powder, plain bar-top nuts, a hint of soured milkiness, ephemeral stale coffee, some free-agent ashiness, and more well understated leafy, musty, and slightly floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate in its generically rendered frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and mostly smooth, with just a suggestion of roasty acridity marring the sheen here, as such. It finishes trending dry, the bottom nearly falling out of the malt, while the heretofore weak smoke and hoppy esters show some lingering meddle.

Overall, this is a pleasant and well-made porter, with more than a few nods to the original London style. The building dryness makes for a robust drinkability, that is to say, the desire to have one glug right after another, ensuring that at least someone will get bombed in a dive because of it! I'm here all week, folks!

I had this beer on-tap in a 12oz glass at the brewery.

Appearance: dark brown with a bit of a haze and a thin layer of frothy light-tan foam. A little light but attractive.

Smell: dry with a little caramel and a little tartness. A bit light, but not too bad.

Taste: light with a nice roast and a little bit of caramel. Good, but a little on the dry side. 375

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: not a bad Porter. Roasty and a little caramelly without being too sweet.

This poured a dark brown colour with a thick tan head that lingered for awhile. The nose brings roasted malts, chocolate and slight coffee notes. The taste brings forward much of the same but very weakly and surrounded by a light hop bitterness. Was expecting a bit more sweetness as advertised by the taste left me wanting. The mouthfeel didn't help as it was very watery and thin. An okay beer but it would've gotten a better score if it wasn't so thin.
