I had this from the bottle via a tasting.
It pours a ruddy amber-raisin in color. The aroma reminds me of candied cherries with a light boozy kick. Tastes like a boozy whiskey maraschino cherry blend with a bitter, lingering, dry finish. I’d call it a muddled mess but for what it attempts I’d say its pretty close to the mark.

Served in a snifter
A- pours a dark ruby color with a small creamy white head, good retention
S-dark cherry and orange zest with some barrel notes producing vanilla and bourbon, nice malty sweetness at the end. It really does smell like an old fashioned
T- sweet dark cherry notes follow the aroma quite closely with some oaky vanilla and a touch of bourbon, zesty orange leads to a malty sweet finish, a bit of alcohol at the end
M- medium body with low carbonation, slightly foamy mouthfeel with a dry and warming finish
O- Really enjoyed this one, the cherry notes play well with the barrel flavors, suited well for whisky drinkers

"This ale pays homage to the iconic whiskey cocktail. We brewed this 9.8% old ale with sweet cherries and orange zest, then aged it in whiskey barrels for 4 months to capture the essence of an old fashion. Rich bourbon and soft cherry notes roll into a warming finish on this fantastic ale."
Interesting idea - can't say I've seen this attempted before - this sucker is even garnished with orange peel. The nose is incredible - almost perfectly imitates the profile of an old fashioned with a huge blast of sweet cherry and candied orange. Unfortunately, the flavor profile really doesnt follow - it's not very sweet thankfully and rather has some nice whiskey notes and moderately bitter. Really interesting.
