Had on tap. Really like the combination of grapefruit and blood orange, though admittedly the grapefruit takes the lead. Taste also has grass, caramel malts, some supporting berries and bright hops. Smell is a grapefruit bomb with some lemongrass hops. Not complex, but juicy and lighthearted

Pours a two finger off-white head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Hazy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Grapefruit nose and flavor follows, grapefruit hops, not finding the blood orange. Not as hoppy as some IPAs. $3.90 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

I know that a lot of people are una**ed about ABInBev's acquisition of Wicked Weed, but as long as good beers keep flowing into PA, I find it hard to get unwound about it. I am just happy to drink & review new beers.
From the bottle: "All brewers have begged, borrowed, and burgled in the name of their craft. It takes humility, stubbornness, and some sleight of hand to turn raw ingredients into liquid alchemy. Hop Burglar India Pale Ale, brewed with bloodorange, grapefruit zest, and liberally dry-hopped, is just such a beer; the kind of bright, citrus-forward IPA that we would do anything to keep brewing. So mind your pockets - and your hops."
I Pop!ped the cap & despite it being a fresh bottle, I employed a slow, gentle pour into my awaiting glass. A vigorous in-glass swirl raised two fingers of dense, tawny head with not only good retention, but the self-awareness to leave behind some nice, sticky lacing in its wake. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled intensely of oranges! It also had a tea-like quality & I thought of Orange Pekoe Black tea. I started to say that it has been a while since I had tea, but I have it at least monthly at Noodle King on $1.00 Chicken Pho First Saturday. I just have not had Orange Pekoe Black tea in a while. Mouthfeel was, once again, Thin-to-Medium, but light for the style. Do they have a problem with their water? Am I the only one to notice this? This was a very mellow beer, not bitter as one might expect from so much citrus & hops, but very tea-like. I dig this kind of thing. I love rich, bitter, dank hops, but they can take their toll on the palate. This kind of thing is like hitting the "Reset" switch. It was citrusy, but more towards sweet than bitter. It had a nice calming effect on me, to the point that I began to consider a lie-down. Mmm. Nice & mellow. Finish was semi-dry, citrusy, but not overly bitter. I liked that they had shown the restraint to use blood orange juice but only grapefruit zest. The commingling of the two, coupled with the dry-hopping was just right. CAN yinz put this in CANs?

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a mildly murky dark amber color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is full of floral and pine notes. The taste is citrus and pine.
