sick to get to drink a few different versions of this while in asheville this time, had this one on tap at the funkatorium location in a little stemmed white wine glass, poured super hazy to the point where the bartended commented on it, asked if i wanted a different pour, but then also made a real effort to sell me on the one he had already poured, and with time being limited for our group, i took it and went with it, and while i can see this being better in a somewhat more refined state, i also liked it a lot with the haze, assuming some extra peach sediment in play, beautiful real peach aroma and flavor to this one, more perceived sourness than in some of the others ive had, but another killer beer in this splendid morte series! the pour is indeed cloudy, muted very pale orange colored, modest white head on it without a long retention, not super thick or dull or anything. the nose is elite, huge ripe yellow peach aroma, sweet and juicy and mouthwatering with the funk and tartness of the base beer, some obvious white wine character to this too, good complexity but really fruit forward, honest real peach is the key here, sensational. the flavor is similar, peachy all the way, peak ripeness and authenticity, sharp white wine pucker behind it, a decent wood weight and some grain to this one as well, wheaty i would think. some supporting notes of orange and kumquat and apricot and mango, tropical and summery, high tone acid pushing but not quite into vinegar range, nice mature mixed fermentation type funk too, nice best of both worlds on that, drier at the end than it smells or starts on the palate, but still some peach juice essence there at the end, some bellini vibes to this, and i think the somewhat sedimented pour i got is flattering to the fruit actually. potent peach, cool fermentation profile, lovely stuff really. cool they are packaging it in clear glass, i should have snagged a bottle while i was here!

Appearance: Modestly hazed, hay-hued body with a foamy, slimming white head. Good lacing on the descent, I will say.
Smell: Peaches and the funkified lactic sourness given a handsome splash of oaky white wine.
Taste: Near nil sweetness showing from the blonde sour base overlayed with a snappy, fresh-picked, juicy peach flavor. Scantly herbaceous. Oaky, buttery and a little tannic vibe going on. The fruitiness melds nicely with the tart lactic nature of the beer. Fruity, (lightly) funky finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus, lightly fluffy carbonation.
Overall: Though I scored it the same as the Kiwi Morte, I would ultimately prefer the kiwi version, friends. Still, though, good beer!
