Brett Tyranny is a brett rendition of our flagship red IPA aged with our house strain of brett. The addition of a pound per gallon of tart Montmorency cherries transforms our classic hoppy red into an even more complex IPA.

A 500ml bottle with a bottled on date of 7.24.15. Batch # 839
L - Ruby red, with a touch of clarity. 1/2 a finger of head and some minor lacing
S - Cherries, tart, brett. Great aroma
T - Cherries predominantly, with some tartness. Funkiness from the brett is evident through out, but never dominates. Tasty brew
F - Medium body and carbonation, slight sizzle on the tongue
O - Another great brew from Wicked Weed. Very enjoyable

Copper with a huge head beige and a nearly impenetrable veil of lacing. hazy burnt copper large beige foam
Big funky cherry is on the nose with rug, biscuit, grapefruit and strawberry. Funk is of the horse blanket variety, with hay as it warms, charred oak, and some maple creeping in from somewhere.
Tart but not too sour, red malt manages to make itself relevant with a bit of caramel smoothing. Cherry is tart with a little burn rounded by biscuit, cracker, and toasted--overall really balanced and nuanced flavors. Some bitter rind of orange and grapefruit is present, with grass as well. This is not medicinal at all, but has a sort of red wine quality in the background.
Bitterness here seems to somehow impart a kind of airiness and fizziness that is welcome in what otherwise might be a heavy, sweet monster. Feel is real frothy but light in body with a semi-dry finish.

Cloudy dark amber with an off-white head. Tart cherries and brett make their grand entrance in the nose with orange, horseblanket funk, pine, hay and with a kiss of earth. Taste is much the same but the cherries rule with an iron fist, so not as complex, really was hoping the underlying red ipa would shine through more, but it tastes like a whole different beer all together. Feel is tart, slightly acidic, plenty funky and brett laden, carbonation is a little high though

500mL bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 9.99. Bottled 7/24/15. Served in a Wicked Weed snifter.
Pours cloudy amber brown with a finger and a quarter off-white head. A thin layer of foam refuses to dissipate yet only leaves a few small dashes of lace.
Aromas of earthy Brett, cherries, funky hay, lemonade, flowers and a mild sweetness. Very little of the base beer comes through.
Taste blends herbal hops, cherry skins, farmy funk, grass and light caramel. The wild yeast and cherries take this former red IPA to a ehole new flavor landscape. Almost no perceptible alcohol and the bitterness of the hops is mitigated by fruit and farmy funk.
Medium full feel, almost chalky at times but not in an off putting way. The modest carbonation is just enough to keep this from feeling dead on the tongue. Earthy hops, funky Brett and cherry pits linger in the aftertaste.
This was an fresh and delicious play on Tyranny that takes it to a whole new place. The hops were a bit too subdued for this to be the hoppy Brett ale I'd hoped for but the addition of cherries keeps it interesting. Well worth a try.

Pours copper to medium brown with some burgundy color and great head retention. Earthy, sour character dominates aroma with some hop and malt coming through. Great mellow sour flavors but the hoppy bitterness detracts for me. Too much hops reduces perception of other more subtle bacterial fermentation flavors. This brewer makes fantastic sours, this one included. I think it's largely a lack of compromise on aging techniques hat makes this brewer's beers great. I don't feel the need to go to Belgian, west coast or Michigan brewers for a great sour any more.
