Contention is a Belgian IPA brewed with wheat and crystal malts that are complimented by a blend of European and American hops. This beer is the answer for those who want a hoppy IPA flavor profile combined with the fruity and spicy characteristics of strong Belgian ales.

A growler purchased at the brewery on 10.31.15
L - Bronze with 1 finger of head, some nice lacing left all over the glass. No clarity
S - Hoppy with some funk. Citrus
T - A hoppy IPA with some minor Belgium funk. Perfect paring.
F - Well carbonated and well balanced.
O - An awesome BIPA. WW needs to put this one in the regular rotation.

On tap at the brewery in Asheville, NC. I'm not a big fan of Belgian brews, but tried this at the recommendation of our server. Poured a cloudy orange-amber. An interesting blend of traditional Belgian ale with the American hop profile. Frankly, it tasted like an East Coast IPA with a tiny bit of funkiness in the background.
Close enough for my tastes - if I had to drink a Belgian, this would be my choice.
