Rubus Viola is a luxurious dark ale aged in oak puncheons. Here, over one pound per gallon of decadent Boysenberries from Oregon's Willamette Valley combine with Violet flowers to lend layers of floral complexity and delicateness to this sour ale. Once this beer reaches its peak, we blend the puncheons to attain the perfect resonance of our house sour culture with Boysenberry and Violet.

Appearance: Pours murky, with the color clearly influenced by the boysenberry juice; the head has a pinkish hue but is mostly ecru; quite a few strands and dots of lacing reside
Smell: Funk and boysenberry tones intermingle, with just a hint of a floral element
Taste: Grainy tones in the background, with the boysenberry building; rather funky, through the middle, with the violet tones making an appearance, after the swallow; moderately tart and rather tannic, in the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation; slight pucker
Overall: An excellent addition to the Canvas series; my first Wicked Weed since the sale - the industry is not what it was, anymore; I just hope Wicked Weed continues to brew beers like this

Bottle dated 3.3.17 split between the wife and I into two WW snifters. Dark ruby/ light purple color with a fizzy white head that fades and lacing that rings the glass when consumed. It smells jammy, fruity, funk, vineous, berries, purple drink! The taste is a delicious boysenberry jammy deliciousness leaving some funk and oaky notes in the mix! I get the violet in he back with another fruity punch to it. Feel is medium with coating of berries leaving me wanting more. Overall this is yet another SOLID offering from Wicked Weed, I love their sour program! Cheers.
