Pours a beautiful honey gold. Thin white head that dissipates quickly. The nose will excite anyone who came for a sour. Dry, ropy nose with some fresh cut oak. The strawberry notes come through, esp as it warms. Taste is VERY good. I prefer the tartness of the framboos, and was expecting it here, but there's more funkiness than tartness, though there is a bit of oucker at the end. It does stay dry on the palate, with no overwhelming sweetness. Fresh cut hay. Oddly, it's evoking the memories of campfire-charred hot dogs. Not in a bad way. In the dtertaste there is a fruity brightness that just sings beautifully.
I will say, I find this one more complex than the framboos. Very interesting beer.
It has a nice medium-light body with sharp carbonation that doesn't overwhelm. Ultimately, I think this is a must try beer if you see it.

this might be the best wicked weed beer i have ever had. i have loved all of the morte beers i have had, but this takes it all to the next level for me, a barrel aged wild sour ale with fresh strawberries. strawberry is such a hard flavor to get to come through like this in a beer, and here it is so strong but so natural, the right mix of sunny summery red ripeness and concentrated sweet and tangy strawberry jam, packed to the brim, just incredible. the nose makes my mouth water, and i smell it for awhile, just sitting in the funkatorium admiring their pouring vessel (a lambic basket type thing made from barrel staves) and just taking it all in. so much fruit, but a truly lambic type wild profile, sour and acidic sure, all of theirs are intense in this regard, but more funk here than most of the others, more wood, more brett, more maturity, its incredibly complex, earthy and beautiful. the flavor is just as moving. it immediately reminds me of the strawberry lambic hanssens makes, oudbeitje, but a little less sour and with a little more fruit, almost fresher, but equally based on lambic and equally obvious on the strawberries. vinous and tannic for a moment and brightly acidic but never harsh, i finish the bottle without a second thought about it being rough on the belly. the strawberry and the funk just keep giving, even after i swallow all the of these flavors come rushing back as my palate wets for another sip. it warms up to an even more expansive version of itself. this is as good as it gets for this type of thing, a truly incredible strawberry wild beer, as good as any i have ever had to be honest. world class, no debate.
