La Bonte Rose from Wicked Weed. Received 10/8/20 from @nc41 in BIF 12. Reviewed 11/6/20.
12 oz bottle marked on neck “BOTTLED 03/06/19 106-036 12:54:54”. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 55 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 58 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Lighter than Pale straw (SRM 2), clear until end of pour which stirred up some sediment.
Body – Pale gold (SRM 4), translucent. When held to direct light, same.
Head – Large (Maximum four cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, medium density, fizzy with short retention, reducing to a three to four mm crown, (fed in two spots by effervescence) and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – Poor, just a few scattered tiny islands hanging on the glass.
Aroma – 4 – Begins with slightly sweet grape must and some Brettanomyces mixed aromas - no malt, no hops. Fades away.
Flavor – 3.75 - Slightly acidic with a grape aftertaste. No malt, no hops. No alcohol (5.3 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 OK Brett brew, unremarkable and not especially wine-like.

Aroma is a bit muted for a funky wild ale. Its there, just a bit muted. Taste is where this beer really shines. It has a really nice and delicate balance between the funk from the brett and fruit sweetness. Balanced nicely a just tart and light on sour. Well done.

12 ounce bottle - $4.99 at Total Wine & More in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a light orange-gold body, faintly hazed, with a smallish, white head.
Smell: Pleasant, pleasing rosé aroma with a welcome brettanomyces funkiness.
Taste: Bright vinous flavors given a relatively clear yet engaging Brett quality. Scant, crackery, hay-hewn maltiness. Lemony. Moderately tart. Remains rosé-like through the vibrantly crisp finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Well carbonated.
Overall: Pretty tasty.
