Draft pour at the taproom in the South slope area of Ashville. Pitch black with just a tiny ring of lacing. The aroma is bitter chocolate and dark roast coffee. The taste is semisweet dark chocolate with huge coffee, bourbon and oak. Strong final bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Minimal boozieness for 14.1%. Overall, very good to excellent.

Appearance: Pours espresso colored with a one finger beige head; squiggles of lacing

Smell: The roasted coffee bean and Bourbon barrel elements waft together along with dark chocolate tones

Taste: French roast coffee and dark chocolate forward with the Bourbon intermingling in the mid-palate; the Bourbon tones build nicely through the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet

Overall: Wicked Weed has done an excellent job with this as the coffee and Bourbon are pronounced but well-integrated

Poured moderately hard from a bottle into a snifter glass, forming a finger or so of light brown head. Deep blackish brown color after the head soon faded to a small ring of lacing. Smell is pleasant bourbon. Taste is a mix of sweet bourbon, slightly bitter coffee, and other notes like dark fruit, similar to imperial Russians. Not quite sure I like the taste combo, but it gets better as it warms. For 14.1% ABV, it's shockingly not boozy. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Good variation on a standard bourbon aged stout.
