Had on tap. To the best of my memory, this is the first kottbusser I have had, at least in awhile. Very dark brown with a tan head that settles in nicely as a thick collar with lacing. Big smoky earth, dark grains, decent toast, a hint of banana esters and general malts make up the nose. Taste again is lead by smoky earth and dark grains, but the backend yeast flavors are not as strong, more malty than expected, hints of super dry dark fruit linger. Feel is medium bodied with dark textures, yet highly drinkable, was terrified when I realized it is 7% abv because there is no sign of booze. Another!
