clear glass bottle picked up at the funkatorium botte shop, listed at 6.2% abv but i think i have the right beer, as the vidl branding does not exist on its own outside of wicked week listing here, pretty awesome stuff, love the packaging, had a few of these now, really unique, funky, fully wild, a little raw, but novel enough with the uncommon persimmon that i dont even really think about it being not crazy refined, it drinks beautifully. not much head on this, and a little less carbonation than it kind of seems to want, not still but a little saggy, not ideal bottle conditioning, lightly cloudy, some visible sediment round the punt stays mostly in place, a little duller look to it, but it sure is peppy to the senses! i get sturdy oak and white wine and funk right away, tangy persimmon and some floral character with it, tropical in a way that i cant quite put my finger on, earthy from grain but also a sort of carrot thing, perhaps a manifestation of the persimmon, have not had many beers with them, very intriguing! the flavor is distinctive and i get what the persimmon brings, but also, even knowing them pretty well, im not sure i could like take a swig of this and call it out specifically, its there, its fruity, earthy, savory, odd, but its also married into the unique spontaneous beer so well that its just sort of part of it, some flowers here, quite sour, lemon and tart orange too, raw unmalted wheat seems obvious to me, some structure here, some heft, nice minerality, almost saline in the middle, dry at the end despite that kind of also being the fruit climax, supporting notes of kumquat, green pear, daffodil, and a clay-like element, really interesting stuff that warms up well, has obvious white wine personality, and brings in a radical ingredient really well. not quite as lambic-like on the base beer as some of the others i have had under this label, but special and original and definitely spontaneous nevertheless. could use more carbonation and sits just slightly sharp and heavy, but wildly interesting and a joy to share with wife and my brother, a rare and awesome occurance!

Given to me by a friend at the Funkatorium itself, and poured into a 3oz tulip glass.
L - Hazy pale goldenrod, with a minimal pale white head. Good lacing.
S - Nutty. Persimmon. Red delicious apple. White bread.
T - Follows nose. White grape, apricot, and red apple peel. Well-balanced. Finish is tart and nutty.
F - Medium-bodied, with little carbonation. Drinkable. A bit watery.
O - Better than the Spontaneous Ale, but still a little underwhelming. I was expecting more of a persimmon flavor throughout it, but got more of an apple-forward note. That being said, it was a decent ale. I'd recommend giving it a try.
