5 oz pour into a tasting glass on tap at the Wicked Weed taproom.
L – Brown color with a 1-finger bubbly tan head. Decent retention and some spots of lacing on the side of the glass.
S – Lots of malts as expected with caramel, chocolate, nutty, and cola aromas. Smells pretty good.
T – Much like the nose, it starts off sweet with caramel and cola malts, progresses to a more toasted, nutty, and chocolate flavor, and finally finishes with a decent amount of mildly bitter, earthy hops.
F – Medium-bodied, good carbonation, a creamy and sticky mouthfeel, and a mildly bitter and slightly dry finish.
O – This is a pretty solid brown ale. There’s nothing particularly unique about it except for maybe the level of hoppiness at the finish, but it is a great example of the style. It’s tough to reach for a style like a brown ale at a place like Wicked Weed with tons of really interesting and robust beers, but it’s tasty, drinkable, and sessionable at less than 5% ABV. Another nice beer from Wicked Weed.
