November 15th, 2013 - The Double Chuck is, I think, an amped up version of the "Just Chuck", adding some extra alcohol and strength and body. But not having missed the single Chuck, it's hard to glean how the beer has changed across recipes. The Double Chuck glows with a deep mahogany sheen, and the thinnest wafer of foam on top, giving off very little aroma. The flavor is easier to catch, semi-sweet, with a low, deep caramel note, allowed to creep and crawl without the assistance of a carbonated palate. The flavor slowly twists and turns, shifting into shades of pecan and sweet, roasted nuts, which carry through the aftertaste. It's a bit slow and candied for me, but that might suggest the Just Chuck is a beer to keep an eye out for from here on out.
