The usual black Irish stout color. Modest foam in the pint shaker. Lighter body but a little sticky as you sip. Some roasted barley smells.
Not as dry as the Irish style but plenty malty. Agreeable malty sweetness. Flavor is full of the dark roasted malts. An abundance of caramel cut with some charred grainy flavors. A slight bitter aftertaste.
Brewer says it's made with Kent Golding Hops and rates IBUs at 33, though hop flavors are not much in evidence. Mostly this is plain and grainy but quite drinkable. On tap at the brewpub. Served a little warmer than usual. I'll have to try it again.
