Very drinkable. Stout feel without being heavy so you can have more than one.

Pours a pitch black with little half to one finger head. Smells of roasted malts and dark chocolate. Body was thin and the taste left me wanting more. I felt as if it was an imbalance of the chocolate roastiness of the malt. Too much roast made it s little too bitter. Tone down the roast and beef up the body.

Having had both the bottle and the draft, my conclusion is that, while there's not much difference, the draft is less harsh. Given that I can only review one or the other, I give the brewer the benefit of the higher score.

It's almost black and stout-thick, looking fairly heavy in the glass with some brown at the edges. The head is medium brown, about half of a finger tall with reasonably good suspension atop the brew. Lace is in good quantity and moderately thick.
The stoutness of the beer seems to come in its roast, and notes of it are heavy, heavy, heavy. It takes it to the point of char on the nose without going overboard, adding some woody dryness as well. There's a bittersweet cocoa note to ease the chalkiness.
The char and burnt woods are taken further in the taste, with astringency building on the back of the tongue and too much tangy harshness. It's a little easier on draft than in the bottle. Bittersweet cocoa does still do its part to save the day.
The full body eases to medium but is still full enough, though richness is denied to full effect. Dry, astringent chalkiness mars the smoothness to a point.

1 pt. 6 fl. oz. bottle
Served in an imperial pint glass

A - It pours very dark. Absolutely no light comes through even when held to the light. It is topped with an inch of mocha head.

S - The aroma is pretty big. I smell some roasted malt and chocolate.

T - I get lots of dark chocolate and a little coffee.

M - Medium. It is a little thin for a stout.

O - I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It has good aroma and flavor. I would definitely have it again.
