Picked this up on a buying trip to Ohio with no previous knowledge of the brewer or the brew. The pour is quite attractive with a hazy coppery red hue and s very generous and lasting thick cream foam head. The nose is hoppy and resinous with just enough malt notes to make it seem like it'll be well balanced. The hops seem to lean in the piney direction as opposed to the citrus. It sips smooth and easy with just enough resiny mouth coating to make it very pleasant. Unfortunately with all these good attributes it does not fully deliver in the taste department. It is butter and hoppy but not in that great way that beers like hopslam and palate wrecker are. Instead the bitterness is slightly off putting especially in the finish and lingering flavors of the ale. And the malt notes I got in the nose are virtually non existent. This is a good beer but nothing great. Bought a few other of this brewery s bottles, sure hope they are better.

Got a growler the other day at my local Heinen's store and I must say that I was very surprised how good this Imperial IPA was to drink.
It poured a near clear copper orange with only a slight amount of turbidity. My pour resulted in three fingers worth of creamy white fluffy head. Head retention was okay, not unusual for an ale of this abv. Lacing was evident on the walls of my pint glass, and with every sip thereafter.
The aroma was of resinous hops, pine, citrus, and malt. The hop nose was fresh and very aromatic, and made me salivate.
The taste was a perfect balance of floral hops with a nice malty backbone. Plenty of piney/citrus flavor from the hops with a moderate malty after-taste and just a touch of alcohol on the finish.
The mouth-feel was nice and rich as one might expect from a heavily hopped double IPA, but it wasn't thick or cloyingly thick on the tongue.
The drink-ability was fabulous. Each sip left me wanting another and I must admit that I did not grow weary of this fabulous brew.
I would highly recommend this ale for anyone who loves IPA's and even those who aren't familiar with IPA's but love a strong American ale. This beer fits both categories. Almost reminds me of Lagunitas Shut-Down ale. Great buy for $11.99. I sure hope they have some left when I go back tomorrow!
