Sampled at Rare Beer VI in Denver. Taster sampler. Pours a muddy black color with a soft tan colored head with good retention.
The nose is thick with a big chocolate and coffee notes. Some minor esters and a dms issue but not over the top. Yeasty for sure.
The taste is similar. A bit muddled and more yeasty than the nose indicated. A bit sweet and could use a bit more astringency. Love the milk chocolate finish and a nice lingering finish. Some esters, cherries, figs kind of fight the sweet finish.
Body is full and lingering sweetness. Overall a pretty solid beer overall but some yeast and esters issues distract.
