Taking its name from an impromptu blues song, this stout has a complex malt profile featuring roast flavors balanced by caramel malts. Rye is used in small portions in the grain bill for added layers of flavor. Balanced by light additions of Nugget and East Kent Golding hops, this stout maintains those light roast flavors and a touch of caramel sweetness.

12oz can. No dating information found, but purchased in the city where brewed.
Deep brown colored body, with a garnet red back lit edge. One finger of beige head, which sticks around. Leaves partial walls of lacing.
Aroma of roasted malts, tobacco smoke, and caramel. Though brusque, there is an underlying sweet note.
Taste is roasted malts, charcoal, a touch of smoke, and sweet caramel. Has a touch of spice from the rye. Kind of dry in the aftertaste.
Thinner mouth feel. Good carbonation.
Here is a stout that is dry, smoky, and roasty, yet has an ending note that is quite sweet. This profile lends itself to repeated imbibing.
