Appearance: Pours a gorgeous dark straw/golden clear with lovely fine carbonation and great lacing.
Aroma: Subtle ale yeast with an assertive and lightly sweet malt. English hops creep in on the back end.
Flavor: Again, lightly sweet pale and crystal malt that changes and coats the tongue. A really nice blend of ale and what seems like lager flavors. Slight traditional hoppy backbone but just compliments the beer.
Mouthfeel: Crisp up front but velvety in the back of the mouth. Carbonation adds just what it needs.
Overall: An excellent beer and example of the style just like so many of their traditional English ales; it's a welcome change from the overpowering mixed fermentation and adjunct BA stouts that fill the fridge. Happy they're canning it!
