At 2010 Charlotte Octoberfest. From the Duckworths booth.
Dark orange pour, finger of off white head.
Malty aroma, caramel and vanilla. Slight oakiness.
Taste meshes the oaky barrel qualities with the ale perfectly. Malt, caramel, toffee. Peat and smoke blends well with the oak. Finish toffee then smokey.
Lighter bodied to style, almost creamy mouthfeel. Big flavor from a session beer.
This was the only standout I had at the fest outside of the homebrews.
