Pours near black with a creamy light tan head that remains through the entire pint, leaving a wall of lacing down the glass. Smell is a mix of roasted malt and a good hop presence under it. A little sweetness also lingers in the background. Taste brings about some more sweet character up front. Good chocolate flavors and a hint of fruit. Roasted flavors come in, almost a smokey touch. A nice somewhat drying finish with a little bitterness creeps in. Good transition of flavors. Nice creamy mouthfeel which is fairly light and a good body for an Irish Stout. I could certainly have a couple and enjoyed this quite a bit. Nothing too impressive but hits all the right notes in my book.
