Canned in December 2022. 12oz can poured into a tulip.
Pours almost black; small light khaki head that fades leaving decent retention and okay lacing.
The aromas are on the subtle side. Lots of sweet malts. Hints of cocoa.
The flavors are bolder than the nose. Nice coconut notes blending well with the chocolate. Some vanilla frosting. The flavors are obviously on the sweeter side, but in a nice and enjoyable way. Lower bitterness. Strong malt backbone. Mild warmth in the finish but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden considering the ABV.
Mouthfeel is full-bodied with lower carbonation. It's thick, creamy, velvety, and smooth.
This is a pretty solid Imperial Milk Stout. The German Chocolate Cake notes are distinct while remaining subtle, mild, restrained and balanced. It's well crafted and fun to drink. I like it.

Aggressively poured from a 12-oz. can into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass. The date on the can makes this sample barely over a month old.
Appearance: Very dark brown — approaching black — with a 3/4” tan head that lingered a little while, some lacing.
Nose: Faint and sweet. A little chocolate, a little cotton candy.
Mouthfeel: Medium, about right for a milk stout.
Attack: Heavy on the roast; actually tastes a bit burnt, mixed with very sweet. Some carbonation. A little coffee.
Finish: Moves from more burnt roast, to bitterness from the roast, back to lingering sweet — a little too burnt/sweet.
The IBU tastes stronger than I normally expect from a Milk Stout. I feel the 12% alcohol soon after several sips. The flavor actually doesn’t remind me of German Chocolate Cake. Though I haven’t reviewed it yet, from memory I much more prefer this brewery’s Wake Me Up Hazelnut Coffee Milk Stout. There are three more of these German Chocolate Cakes in the four-pack I bought, and I’ll drink them; but I don’t think I’ll be buying this again.

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This nice little brew pours a murky
brownish black with a light head of kahki foam that settles to a thin ring
with light lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, coconut, cream, brulee, and
dark fruit notes. Flavors follow nicely with dark cocoa, cream, char, brulee,
coffee, toffee, coconut, and light cherry notes. Mouth feel is medium full,
light carbonation, and a lightly dry finish that is a hair on the watery side
and verging on cloying but coming up short of being too sweet.
Overall, for this brewery to produce this solid of a brew, I am speechless.
It needs a bit of work on the mouth feel, but overall very solid for the
dessert brew lovers out there.
Cheers

Single can from the brewery.
Pours a murky dark brown.
Has a marshmallow aroma to it.
Taste is quite sweet but with that bittersweet dark chocolate note that makes it, well... A German chocolate cake...
