A clean amber lager with a rich, toasty and bready malt flavor and a dry finish that encourages another drink. Prost!

Marzen pours a dark amber color, with a small, barley lacing head. Weaker aroma, but sweet and spicy. Flavor is sweeter, but balanced with a nice bitterness, and a good dry spice. Good body and feel. Overall, a very nice Marzen, great feel, nice spicy notes.

Hooray for @jkblr who sent me this CAN & others to not only further The CANQuest (tm), but to give me something to do on New Beer Sunday (Week 715)!
From the CAN: "Authentic*Traditional*Lager"; "A clean amber lager with a rich, toasty and bready malt flavor and a dry finish that encourages another drink. Prost!"; "Brewing eclectic, aggressively fun beers is not for the timid. Fortunately, the only thing we like better than a challenge is drinking the end result."; "2017 Indiana Brewers Cup Grand Champion Brewery Indiana Brewery of the Year Best in Show".
I am really impressed by all of these Lagers! They were not very common in the early days of craft brewing, but now it seems as if every brewery is trying their hand. My hand went immediately to the tab to begin a Crack! & Glug into my .5L German Oktoberfest stein that I bought from my friend who runs Hidden Treasures, a local collectibles & consignment shop. It fought me a little & when I got it open, I could see why - it was a brimful craft CAN! Well, I decided to show it who was boss, so I went with an inverted Glug, producing two-plus fingers of fizzy, foamy, rocky, tawny head with moderate retention. I didn't get any lacing, but the rich Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) color with its NE-quality clarity took my mind off of this failing. Nose was very bready, doughy, kind of sweet. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not exactly watery, but not much beyond it, either. Hey, it's what you usually get in/from a Lager beer. The taste was clean, but not as rich or toasty as their verbiage had led me to expect. I agree with its current score of "Good", but once again, I think that we have better examples here in PA. It just did not have a pronounced presence of its malt, which is what highlights this style. It just kind of lacked Ooomph! Finish was dry, but it just seemed unfulfilling. YMMV.

It pours a golden yellow with a little lacing. Pretty light color for a marzen, but has the flavor profile. A bit watery. Quite refreshing on a hot day.

16oz canned 3/26/18 (5 months ago) purchased cold at the brewery poured into a 500mL krug at fridge temp, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours bright golden orange amber with quickly fading nearly white head. The head disappears quickly leaving a few bubbles around the glass. The aroma is faint with a little yeast and possibly bread. The taste is toasted bread and a glimpse of faded hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, lowly carbonated and dry in the finish. There are no off flavors or flaws and the aftertaste is quite clean. Overall, good. I'll say I'm very disappointed that I bought a 5 month old Marzen at a brewery. This might have been outstanding fresh.
Edit: Purchased a pint at the brewery five years later. Great oktoberfest. Not overly sweet and lagered perfectly. Scores bumped up to reflect this experience.
