16oz can, tulip, canned 1/28/20.
Beautiful deep red and purple shades like a real shiner. Quick rush of dirty white head and then just a small slick remains.
Plum, treacle, oily oak smoke. Not very intense, but rich.
Sweet upfront quickly transitioning to bitter alcohol and caramel sweetness that tapers off.
Light body, light carbonation leading to a mouthfeel that is too light.
It’s a so so Doppelbock and I could use more smoke.

16oz draft served cold in a becher glass at the Daredevil Hall location on the north side. The beer is bright reddish brown in color with persistent khaki head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is faint and smells malty with a whisper of smoke. The taste is rich malt with a subtle overlay of oaky smoke, zero sweet or cloying notes and consistent mild bitterness throughout. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, delightful. Perfectly clean lagering and excellent bock.
