Notes: This pale ale features a refreshing résumé of bright citrus American hops harmonizing with a sugar cookie sweetness donated from Bohemian pilsner malt. The result is a crisp, glass-smooth ale worth repeating.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with white head. Citrus, light fruits, bread, and a nice light pine and grass note on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a very nice compliment of fruit balanced out by a cereal grain malt backbone.

Poured in a frozen pilsner glass at the Recovery Room in La Crosse, WI.
A- Dark golden color and lasting lacing.
S- Lots of fruit. Orange and mango lead.
T- Very sweet fruit and malt front with little bitterness. It starts out great but doesn't finish the way I'd like it to.
M- Watery is the first word that comes to mind. Could really use more carbonation and more bitterness.
O- Great start but it just can't finish. It's a beer I can drink but it's just not reaching it's full potential. I've come to expect more from Karben. Love the artwork as always though!

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a growler on April 2, 2017. Look is orange gold with a thin white head and spotty lacing. Smell and taste is pine and lightly sweet malts. Feel is crisp.

I originally had this on tap in 2015. Time to see how it fairs in a bottle.

Poured 12oz bottle into a snifter. Golden apricot color with a nice 2 finger white head that fades slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing on my glass. Aromas of orange and grapefruit mingle with sweet mango and pineapple, with a touch of light caramel malt to round it out. The flavor builds on these bright fruity notes with the tropical hops and lightly sweet malts. The balance of sweet and bitter is really, really good. The body is fluid, light-medium weight, with a more than sufficient carbonation and it does finish dry. I think this is their best APA.

On tap. Poured a bright orange hue with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled citrusy with some sweet fruity notes. A bit of toasty malt, too. Great balance of flavors. Crisp citrus notes with some toasted maltiness.

Orange. Hazey. A bit floral - orange blossom, kind of a bitter dandelion, pine. Caramel and crackers. Flavor follows. It's tasty .,. but unfocused. It has a generic "good beer" thing going for it but nothing I can recall as an identity. Medium bodied, finishes a bit flat.

The description on Karben4 beer list is a mix of hops and sugar cookie. I had my doubts but low and behold, hops up front, with a lingering aftertaste of sugar cookie.

On tap at Karben4 in Madison, WI. 16oz served in a Karben4 goblet 9/14/2014.

A- Slightly hazy golden-orange body with a one finger white head, rings of lacing. [3.75]

S- Floral notes, some citrus, pine. A fairly hoppy nose that is balanced out by a good bit of caramel and bread. As I would expect from Karben4. [3.75]

F- Citrus, caramel, bread, floral hops, pine. Balanced overall, but the hops are still quite vibrant and very hard to miss. More than a solid APA in terms of the hop flavours and the balance. [4]

M- Medium in body though on the thinner side, very drinkable. Balanced with a slight citrus bitterness on the backend. [3.75]

O- Altogether a very solid local APA, I would drink a fair amount of this if this was bottled. Very hoppy, but not overly bitter nor is it too sweet. Very balanced as far as my drinking preferences go. [4]

Final score: 3.91

Pours hazed golden with a thin head that leaves spotted lacing.

The smell has pine and a floral character.

The taste is of soft pine, a cracker/bread backing with a bitter dryness. Nicely balanced with a refreshingly dry-ish finish.

It is, again, refreshing. The body fits the character of the beer.

This is an easy-drinking, soft, APA.
