Flying under the radar and staying cool under pressure preserves a spy’s clandestine nature. This English mild takes a page right out of the same field manual: sophisticated, not flashy; refined, not shallow. English malts, English hops, English yeast, and our best Queen’s English accent will not leave you disappointed…at least the first three are sure to deliver. Nothing says “international clandestine operative” like the words tortoise and champagne; so put one in your hand today.

Pours a translucent brown, not much head. Aroma is sweet, malty hints of nuts and toffee. Flavor is the same sweet, nutty, toffee notes. Good body and feel. Overall, very drinkable, nice but and toffee flavor, very enjoyable

It does have a European ale flavor but it tastes more like a good malt liquor. Not much head or smell to speak of. It is drinkable but not what I would want for a craft beer. Nothing displeasing but nothing notable either. So many other better beers to choose from.

Taste: earthy, slight hop, sour yeast, caramel malt. Very mild malt nose. Amber hue, mostly clear, with a smaller head but nice lattice of lace in taster glass. Medium/Light body. 15 IBUs

The beer pours a slightly cloudy nut brown, no head to speak of.
The smell is bready and caramel sweet, earthy and rich. Baked bread notes, and appropriate to the style not much from the hops.
The taste is very smooth, no rough edges on this one. Pleasantly bitter, like a nut/whole grain bread. A honey-like sweetness, toffee, and a bit of roast on the finish.
Medium bodied, virtually no carbonation, clean with no aftertaste.
Good drinking beer. Nothing spectacular, just a solid brew. Price seemed a bit high at 1.99 for a single, but worth a go for an easy drinking, pleasant session beer.

12oz bottle, served in a willi becher glass. Pours a darker brown body, still fairly clear with a one finger white head, good retention, not much lacing. Smell is rich brown malt, slightly nutty, slightly earthy, touch of sweet caramel, grain. Smells rich, particularly for this style. Flavour is a clean nutty brown malt, touch of grain, baked pumpernickel, a bit of biscuit and touch of honey. Mouthfeel is medium-lighter bodied, crisp and refreshing, pleasantly nutty and flavourful. Good beer, it's a more nuanced brown ale essentially, with good flavour. A pretty solid daily drinker at the pub.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter. It is brownish amber in color with a 1.5 finger dirty white head and minimal lacing. Aroma is mostly toasted grains, toffee, and caramel malt. Taste reminds me of home made bread full of grains along with toffee, caramel malts, with slight roast finish and a touch of hops on the finish. Mouthfeel is lighter with softer carbonation. Overall an enjoyable beer.
