Happy New Beer! Are you into making an annual list of strategies for personal world peace? Yeah, neither are we. Instead, we decided to cut loose and brew some happy sauce. Double oatmeal (golden malted and raw rolled) creates a smooth body and silky finish. Just the right blend of roasted malts ensures chocolatey transcendence. English Golding hops bring the package home with subtle sophistication. So rather than focusing on shortcomings, learn to love yourself and perpetually postpone introspection with our proprietary happy sauce and a new mantra: ” Diet Starts Tomorrow.”

A faint smell of fried bacon - crispy fat and a hint of sweetness - met me after popping the top. The beer poured out opaque, coffee-colored, and slightly viscous and generated a large head like some of the better root beers. Still smelling a little bacony (not a bad thing at all), the brew' passed by my tongue slightly thick, slightly bitter, and ever-so-slightly citrus. It was very smooth, surprisingly so. Given the amount of froth on the pour, I was expecting more carbonation. On closer examination, I do detect some oatmeal with the coffee but I'm not really tasting any chocolate notes. Summer might not be the right time of year for this, so I'll have to make a note to try it when I need some heavier fuel in the winter.

Pours pitch black. 2 finger dark brown head. Head retention is terrible, and it dissipates super fast. No lacing on the glass.
The nose has a mellow, and a bit weak chocolate aroma. Not too strong, but there.
Taste - Not a lot of chocolate up front. It hits more on the backside. More of a dark chocolate flavor. A slight roasted malt flavor also working here.
The body is decent, About where it should be for this style.
Overall, ok, could be better, but not bad either.

Not sure if mine went bad, picked up a fresh pack that had a package date within the month. Cracked one open and it smelled a little off but looked fine. The taste was sour vinegar with a touch of chocolate and felt watery. Tried opening 2 more of them in the six pack and the same story for the rest.

Poured from a bottle at the brewery.
Look: Dark brown with a dark brown head.
Smell: Oats, roasted malt, and dark chocolate, well balanced
Feel: Heavy and thick, moderate carbonation, some coating left after swallowing. Love it.
Taste: Like the smell, roasted malt, lots of oatmeal, and dark chocolate.
Overall: Very good, heavy, and tasty. Highly recommend it.

Poured at 60 degrees into a stout goblet. Very dark with a tan head. Roasted malts here and a thicker mouth feel. Enough hops to balance it out. Love the artwork.

12 oz single bottle from Randall given to me out of his 6 pack.
A deep ruddy chocolate brown with a nice creamy beige cap of 1 finger, fading down to a thick ring with bubblies on top.
Aroma is deep roasted malt, with char and dark chocolate, coffee, slight chili pepper, and oatmeal.
Flavor is very charred and roasty. Some heavy coffee notes, along with some metallic ones; bitter roasted cacao, a little dairy, and ends on earth and coffee grounds.
Feel is clinging, with a heavy carbonation, a little sticky, very roasted, alcohol heat very apparent, ends clinging and unrelentingly dry/roasted. Again that alcohol burn feels like 9-10%.
Overall I'm beginning to wonder if "Diet" being the first word means there is actually a good beer out there called "Starts Tomorrow".

Well balanced. The chocolate is very subtle in my opinion, and is more of a complementary flavor to round out the complex flavors. Very drinkable and satisfying

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter. It is black with a voluminous 2.5 finger tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate notes as well as char and roasted malt. The taste is bitter chocolate, roasted malt in the stout base. Mouthfeel is medium silky quality with good carbonation. It is more of a bitter that sweet chocolate stout.
