We took our 2013 After Midnight Imperial Stout and aged it in Woodford Reserve Barrels for a year. With notes of rich roasted malt combined with a slight Bourbon flavor naturally aged, this brew is the best of both worlds.

On tap @ Homestead Bar & Grill, Meridian ID.

A: Opaque black with ruby edges, tan head and lacing.

S: Nose carries notes of cocoa and chocolate, roast, caramel, sweetness. Whiskey barrel character is well integrated.

T: A little more going on here; leads with chocolate and cocoa again, with notes of dark fruit, oak, vanilla, and char.

MF: Creamy and smooth medium body, faint alcohol presence.

O: This is a good one, glad to see Slanted Rock brewed it again.

750 bottle picked up at the brewery last week... Enjoyed tonight after drinking some brews with the guys... Pours thick and the expected black with a short-lived dark tan head... no real lacing or cap.. Good whiskey right from the get-go... Not blown out bourbon, instead well integrated round wood and vanilla/marshmallow notes.. More roast on the palate than the nose moves this back into the center of BIG RIS territory... Char comes up toward the finish along with a little bit of dried cherry essence... Drying oak finishes things out with warmth.

Pretty big and proper... The oak got to be a bit much with later pours, but still a very well made beer.
