The colour is deep warm brown with a tint of red. The two finger head is beige and compact; it sinks slowly leaving no lacing.
The smell is very malty with clean sweetness, nuts, brown bread, molasses and dried fruits.
The taste starts off with a metallic bitterness and dry notes of roasted nuts and brown bread/pumpernickel. Some dried flowers and toffee flavouring. Light to medium body. The aftertaste is less bitter, but the metallic note is still notable. Rye crispbread and some spices. The finish is mild with some dusty brown malts.
The carbonation is strong, the many mid-sized bubbles are short-lived. The liquid is rather light.
A weaken version of the 6.5% original Julöl, this one is just thin and unbalanced.
