August 2006: On tap at The Rover, Göteborg. Clear dark amber to chestnut colour, creamy head. Moderate malty and toffee aroma. Pleasant malty and mellow flavour with some grapefruity hops in the finish. A nice and drinkable bitter.

Bought at the swedish Systembolaget.

Appearance: The bottle is pretty dull I think, like the rest of the bottles I've seen from this brewery. The liquid is bronce red with a thick foam leaving some rests.

Smell: Sweet, citrus and some bitterness

Taste: Fresh some kind of "soapy" taste with a nice bitterness. The aftertaste stays in your mouth leaving a bitter and nice feel.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation.

Drinkability: I would say rather high, I don't have so much expericence in this type of beer but I must say this is a good one!

The first beer I reviewed at BA was a bottle of Fallen Angel some three and a half years ago. I’ll guess it is time to revisit this Swedish bitter.

The beer pours with a fizzing sound; the colour is deep amber and the off white two finger head leaves some lacing. The liquid is somewhat cloudy.

The mild smell is bitter and malty; some fruity hints of apricots and matured apples. Some dry bitter notes of minerals and bitter almonds.

The flavours of malt and hops are deliciously balanced: Bread-like fresh malt with sweet notes and creamy fruity bitterness. The aftertaste got matured notes of boiled meat, dark bread, sweet apples, some syrup and a descending fruity bitterness.

The carbonation is medium strong with small creamy bubbles. The liquid is creamy.

Over all, a very balanced and drinkable beer. As an English bitter is supposed to be!

Expiration date 10/06. Thanks Madsberg. Foamy on top of dark copper. Malt and hop in aroma. Citrus, licorice, and nuttiness flavour, very drinkable, medium body. Bitterness dominates, but it is a medium one, with drying finish. Satisfying aftertaste. Appropriate carbonation.

A very nice beer, bitter and hoppy, with a nice slightly bready malt flavour. Nice spicy hops in the finish, also a slight bit citric, dry-ish finish, generally light in body, but quite full-flavoured, and perhaps a nice session bitter, enjoyable to taste and quaff. Solid.
