Jämtlands President is the third lager beer from Jämtlands Bryggeri which I try, and I think it's the only one that I haven't had before. It's a North German-style pils (with Czech hops), had it on a hot spring day, so here we go;

President pours a nice golden color with a huge white foam. Looks really, really refreshing actually.

Aroma holds some nice notes of butterscotch and has a really nice flowery touch from the Czech hops. A proper pils aroma indeed.

Taste is even better, lots of flowery notes with those quite bitter Czech hops. The butterscotch reminds itself slightly in the background.

All lager beer should be unpasteurized in my opinion, this is suprisingly nice!

The beer is light golden and slightly hazy, with a white head that leaves some lacings.

The smell is sweet malty, and citric tones, lemon and green apples.

The taste is fresh bread, sour notes, rhubarb, quite much bitter oils.

Carbonation is medium, smooth and with a dry finish.

A rather ale-ish lager, a good experience.

A: Straw coloured with a white head that leaves lacings. It has a haze, due to the fact that this isn't pasteurized.

S: Roasted malt with a bready tone. There is both floral and bitterhops and some citrus.

T: Floral notes, mixed with roasted malt.

M: Bitter and creamy.

D: This must be the least complicated beer from the boys in Jämtland. It's a public beer (but if so a bit to expensive). This is better than many lagers, but not the best beer from Jämtland.

Thick creamy white head but watered down golden colour. Smell is full of grass and straw and malt. Flavour is malty with a noticable prescence of hops but also a funny sour taste. Mouthfeel is flat with too little carbonation. This brew is decent and it is not great. Least impressing beer I've had from Jämtlands.

In the last few years Jämtlands Bryggeri has emerged as one of the best breweries in Sweden, with several intersting beers and styles in their product range. Because of this my expectations on President was perhaps unusually high for a Swedish beer. It poured in a rather uninteresting pale yellow color smelling sweet, fruity hops. The taste was sweet too, with some sour apple and pear notes as well as some bread. There was a lot of carbonation and the body was a touch of watery. I was disappointed as President does not quite measure up to Jämtland's normal mark of quality.

The colour is pale yellow; the firm white foam is two fingers thick.

The smell is malty and somewhat bitter; it is rather anonymous.

The carbonation is quite right; fresh with medium sized bubbles.

The taste stars with a mild bitterness, some fine malt and a sourish touch. The quite simple aftertaste got a soft bitterness and a note of dark bread.

This is probably the most “average” beer from Jämtlands Bryggeri. A standard lager/pils made with a little more craftsmanship and some better ingredients than the major breweries (although it reminds me of the German pils DAB). I’ll guess they are brewing it for those poor people that want “A normal beer, nothing strange please”.

Oh yes. The style... The front label says "Lager", but the back label reads "A beer in the tradition of the Northern German Pils".

A somewhat simple pils from an otherwise great brewer. This has some floral perfumy aromas, and some light hops and malt (both in aroma and palate), but it is a bit light and a touch sweet, OK for a lager i suppose, and probably one that will please a bigger audience, but its not for me, i like a bit more body and flavour, and more bitterness.
