Clear peachy-copper hue with amber highlights, millions of tiny bubbles constructed a slightly off-white head about a finger in height. At a moderate pace it collapsed to a cap. No subsequent lacing. This is a nice looking beer; dissimilar to any Kriek I’ve seen. Of course this isn’t really a Lambic, still the appearance threw me for a loop. The nose told me upfront that this will not be a sweet beer; this is no Lindemans. The aroma was fresh cherries with a rush of sea breeze behind it, only a distant trace of wheat, the end of the bouquet is largely clean. There are distant indications of tartness. The potency is a little restrained. It is inviting if not largely one-dimensional. However the palate is big and vibrant, tart upfront, a gust of acidity, a note of sourness, a big tug of tartness at the finish. The cherry taste is very restrained even though 85 lbs. were used. This is insanely tasty! The cherry-tartness is so strong it must be sipped, factor in the lofty abv and sipping becomes a must. If this was only bottled and aged, oh my! I am amazed that this beer was brewed in Nebraska, it lacks depth and the funkiness of a true Belgium lambic but in a blind taste test this ale would fool many of folks. But what this beer lacks in depth it makes up for it in sheer potency. The body is medium-light in bulk, the carbonation is spot-on, full and lively, this helps produce a very pleasing and filling mouthfeel yet it remains light and easy. Nice. This is a splendid ale, it truly is, I applaud Trevor and the gang at Gottberg for brewing this unique, strong interpretation of a Lambic, my hat is tipped and my glass is raised! Now get to Columbus and try it folks, recommended.
