Clear brownish hue, fair color depth, served with an off-white head that is a mix of pocked bubbles and soap, of the head that existed the retention was fine. There was minimal lacing as I drank it however. The nose is mainly a dose of malt, kind of chocolatey, dry and toasty, with not much else. The potency is moderate but the aromas get the job done, on a blind sip Id have guessed that this was an English Mild Ale. On the palate there is a blend of soft yet firm maltines that allows a kiss of nuts, caramel, and pleasant dry chocolate to shine along with Fuggle hops that promotes the English in this beer. The finish is semi-dry with moderate lingering taste. This is a pleasant and drinkable brew, a session beer for sure. Medium body. Not a great deal of complexity with English Brown Ale; it is a good attempt at re-creating the style. A nice offering from Gottberg, a solid core offering.

Deep dark brown, almost opaque, but not cloudy. Little head retention, but left a slight lacy ring around the top of the glass.
Clean smell, no pronounced hops or esters. Easy drinking, with well rounded characteristics. average mouthfeel, and a dull, not sweet, maltyness.
