Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a thin khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa, slight coffee and vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, coffee, baking chocolate and a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid stout on the charry/roasty end of the spectrum. Mild bitter chocolate notes and slight vanilla. Although a decent creamy body, it is a little thinner than expected for an oatmeal stout. Nice to have a roasty stout after a run of sweeter pastry stouts. Nicely made and full flavored.
