On tap at the brewery, where it was billed as a West Coast IPA.
The pour is sparkly, pale and filtered.
The aroma is crisp and citra-heavy. It honestly doesn't seem all that west coast to me: it reminds me more of the great midwest citra IPA's of the early twenty-teens (Zombie Dust comes immediately to mind).
The flavor is one-note but quite good. Bright citra up front, lightly bitter and lemony on the finish.
It's kind of amazing how quickly citra IPAs went from the newest and most exciting things on earth to just kind of everyday and unexceptional. If Zombie Dust came out now, most of us probably would rate it favorably but not too favorably. Then again, if it hadn't come out several years ago, who knows if a beer like Porcupine Ambush would seem played out by now.
But, erm... where am I going with this? This beer is very well brewed and very tasty. Not particularly innovative, but whatever, it's nice to have a well-made ZD clone brewed in my new hometown.
