Ferrying souls down the river Styx is thirsty work. Darker than the shores of Hades itself, this creamy yet quaffable oatmeal stout is brewed with a hefty dose of oats and an array of specialty and roasted malts. Deep, dark notes of rich chocolate, cappuccino, and hazelnut sweep downstream across your palate before washing up on a shore of chocolate-covered espresso beans and drippy chocolate syrup. Blacker than the blackest black times infinity. The Boatman demands payment.

Deep, dark brown with a small tan head and modest lacing. Prominent aroma of caramel and chocolate. Some nuttiness on the backside. Taste offers up earthy roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and caramel. Medium bodied with a bit more carbonation than expected. Tasty but strays from the style guidelines to a degree.

A tap pour into a clear pint glass displayed a liquid black coffee brown in color, with a generous biege head that appears to be enduring. Even with the oatmeal inclusion, which often dampers the aroma of beers, this is full of roasted barley malt for the nose to enjoy. Still, there's enough oatmeal in the mix to add to and smooth out the delivery. This is done without compromising its taste, as there's plenty of hops and roasted bitterness to be had. Although the head sustained, there wasn't much glass lacing. Overall, this is one solid oatmeal stout, without frills, just plenty of delicious stout flavor delivered smoothly.

Jet black opaque pour with a large tan head. Smell is dominated by roasted malt, oat and dark chocolate support. Taste is much the same, less roast would allow the oat, dark chocolate and a hint of nuttiness star more. Feel is roasty, malty but flat. Solid but some tweaking could make this more balanced
