Poured into an Elysian snifter. Pours pitch black with a thin filmy head and tiny ring around the glass that leaves wispy lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, chocolate, charred coffee. Flavor is toasted malt, milk chocolate, light coffee, finishes medium dry with soft, pleasant, lightly hopped chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied, without much carbonation. An interesting imperial, somewhat subdued and mellow flavor throughout, but not thin nor watery, actually covers the alcohol quite well. An nicely made, quiet imperial stout. Sits on the edge of an American imperial and an imperial dry stout. Would have scored higher with a bit of carbonation.
